It isn’t a party unless there’s cake! Traditional cake toppers featuring bride and groom seem to be making a come back, especially for vintage or retro weddings. However there are many other options when it comes to finding the perfect topper for your perfect cake. Some current trends are letters and monograms. These can be stand alone brushed metal initials, or your monogram can be engraved into glass or acrylic cake toppers, personalized with wedding date and more. Instead of your last initial, you could opt for a simple heart on top of your cake. The nice thing about these cake toppers is that they will serve as a lasting memento to forever remind you of your special day. Another idea is to use fondant to make an elegant bow for the top of your cake. Then there are flowers, which always also serve as classic cake toppers and accents. To get more creative, add pinecones or seashells depending on the season. Another tasty trend is garnishing your cake with a fruit and berry arrangement. Add a twist to the traditional cake topper by placing two birds or two butterflies in place of a bride and groom! Why not top off your cake with a top hat?! This makes for a fun and whimsical, yet still very charming look. Of course, not all cakes need a fancy topper, and sometimes simple is better. Some couples choose to put their monogram right on the cake and leave the top untouched. Whatever you decide, the most important thing will most likely be the taste! After all, who doesn’t love cake?!
