The Getaway Car: Exiting in Style PDF Print E-mail

Say goodbye to the days when the bride and groom would leave their wedding ceremony in a car with left over Spaghetti O cans dangling by strings. Fear no more because this will not be the case on your wedding day!

It used to be the groomsmen that would be in charge of decorating the car, but more and more brides and grooms want to know what the car that they are leaving in is going to look like (who can blame ‘em!).

First, you want to think about what kind of car you are planning on leaving in. A classic car such as a Mercedes or a car that has been passed down through the family may want to have simple decorations such as simply writing “Just Married” on the back. Using window markers is a great way to do this (you can find these at any craft store). If you are planning on leaving in a party bus or limousine then I say go all out and be creative. Why not? It is your wedding day after all! Add magnets to the side of your ride— hearts, your initials, or sayings such as “Honk! Just Married!” or “What have we done?” (Just kidding!!). Balloons are a great way to give the back of your car some more pizzazz and are different than the regular overused can. If you are having a wedding in the city—think about a trolley as a means of transportation for you and your wedding party. Add streamers, signs, and balloons to the side, and play music to pre-game and get your dance moves ready for the reception.

If you are having a themed wedding this is another area where you can tie it in! For example, say you are having a sports themed wedding—tie beer cans to the back of the car, represent your sports team by writing the team on the car or adding a sports topper to the antenna.

However you plan on leaving on your wedding day make sure you are doing it in style!
